Financial wellbeing platform Check.co.uk has partnered with automotive intelligence specialist MotorIQ to give motorists greater insight into the health of their vehicle and the potential costs of ownership.

The partnership will see MotorIQ’s predictive vehicle intelligence integrated into Check’s My Vehicle platform, adding vehicle health and future maintenance insights alongside the financial and ownership information already available to Check users.

My Vehicle brings together vehicle valuations, MOT and tax information, insurance and maintenance reminders, vehicle finance information and potential refinancing opportunities within a single dashboard.

Through the partnership with MotorIQ, Check plans to enhance this further by helping users understand not only what their vehicle is worth today, but also the potential mechanical issues and ownership costs they may need to consider in the future.

Looking beyond a vehicle’s current value

MotorIQ uses predictive modelling and large-scale UK automotive datasets to identify how vehicles typically behave as they age and accumulate mileage.

Rather than simply looking at what has happened to an individual vehicle in the past, the technology analyses patterns across comparable vehicles to identify common faults, the mileage at which problems typically occur and indicative repair costs.

These insights will complement the information already available through My Vehicle, giving Check users a more rounded view of their car.

For example, alongside a vehicle’s current valuation, MOT status and key ownership dates, users could be presented with a Vehicle Health Score designed to provide an easy-to-understand indication of the vehicle’s health based on available vehicle data.

More detailed insights can then highlight common issues associated with similar vehicles, when those issues are typically seen and the potential cost of repairs.

The information is designed as guidance rather than a prediction of the exact condition of an individual vehicle, recognising that maintenance, usage and vehicle history can significantly affect reliability.

Understanding the true cost of vehicle ownership

The integration forms part of Check’s wider strategy to help consumers understand more of their overall financial position.

For many households, a car is both one of their most valuable assets and one of their largest monthly financial commitments.

Check’s My Vehicle platform already allows motorists to monitor their vehicle’s estimated value and, where a finance agreement can be identified and linked, understand how the outstanding finance compares with the value of the vehicle.

This can help users understand their loan-to-value position and make more informed decisions around keeping, refinancing, part-exchanging or settling their existing vehicle finance.

Adding MotorIQ’s vehicle health intelligence introduces another important consideration: the potential future cost of maintaining the vehicle.

A car may appear affordable based purely on its monthly finance payment, but anticipated maintenance and repair costs can have a significant impact on the true cost of ownership.

Bringing these different insights together gives motorists greater visibility before those costs become unexpected bills.

From financial wellbeing to vehicle wellbeing

Check.co.uk provides consumers with free access to credit information from both Equifax and TransUnion alongside credit monitoring, Open Banking insights and personalised financial guidance.

The development of My Vehicle extends that approach beyond traditional credit information.

By bringing together credit, affordability, vehicle finance, vehicle value and now predictive vehicle health information, Check aims to give users a more complete understanding of one of their biggest financial commitments.

Matt Meecham, Founder of Check.co.uk, said:

“Our aim with Check has always been to give consumers greater visibility and control over their financial lives, and My Vehicle is a natural extension of that.

“For most people, owning a car isn’t simply about the monthly finance payment. There’s depreciation, insurance, tax, MOTs, servicing and the possibility of unexpected repairs to consider.

“By combining the information we already provide through My Vehicle with MotorIQ’s predictive vehicle intelligence, we can help users understand not just what their car is worth and what they owe on it, but what the vehicle may potentially cost them to maintain in the future.

“That additional insight can empower people to plan ahead, budget for potential costs and make better-informed decisions about whether to keep, refinance or change their vehicle. It’s another step towards giving consumers a much clearer picture of their overall financial wellbeing.”

Turning automotive data into useful consumer insight

MotorIQ’s technology analyses patterns across comparable vehicles to identify the ownership risks that typically emerge as vehicles age and mileage increases.

Its reporting can highlight common model-specific faults, typical mileage windows, estimated repair costs and practical information about what motorists should look out for.

Vik Barodia of MotorIQ said:

“Partnering with Check is a great opportunity to put predictive vehicle intelligence directly into the hands of consumers as part of a much broader financial wellbeing journey.

“Check is already helping users understand their credit, affordability, vehicle value and finance position. MotorIQ adds another dimension by helping them understand how vehicles like theirs typically behave as they age and what costs may be coming further down the road.

“The combination is powerful because better vehicle decisions aren’t just about choosing the right car or finance agreement — they’re about understanding the total cost and risk of ownership. We’re excited to work with Check to make that information clearer, more accessible and genuinely useful to motorists.”

Building a more complete My Vehicle experience

The MotorIQ integration forms part of the continued development of Check’s My Vehicle proposition, which is designed to create a single place for consumers to understand and manage the financial aspects of vehicle ownership.

The platform brings together vehicle information, current valuations, MOT and tax status, insurance and maintenance reminders, finance information and potential savings opportunities.

MotorIQ’s vehicle health intelligence will add a forward-looking dimension, helping motorists better understand what their vehicle may need next.

Together, Check and MotorIQ aim to make complex automotive and financial data easier to understand, helping motorists plan ahead rather than simply reacting when something goes wrong.
